Mr. Abara specializes in employment discrimination litigation. He has represented individuals in various employment matters. He has also represented corporations and municipalities against numerous charges of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, etc., filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, and federal suits. He leads employee training seminars to assist clients in avoiding/limiting employer liability.
Prior to starting Abara Law Firm, Mr. Abara assisted in the handling of a variety of defense related matters including automobile claims, premises liability, trucking accidents, workers compensation, first party benefits claims and subrogation.
Mr. Abara enjoys giving back to the community by participating in various volunteer and service projects sponsored by his fraternal organization, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Abara also has a strong interest in developing and shaping the minds of Philadelphia youth, and has worked in conjunction with the College Access Program and Philadelphia Cares through various speaking engagements and community efforts. Mr. Abara sits on the Board of Directors for The Seybert Foundation.
Attorney Udunna Abara is Of Counsel to Abara Law Firm PLLC. He handles general civil practice matters including housing discrimination, real estate, landlord-tenant, small business law and organization, estate planning, and more.
Mr. Abara practices in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and has served in a variety of legal capacities. Prior to his affiliation with Abara Law Firm, Mr. Abara practiced toxic tort defense with a nationally recognized law firm in which he served as national coordinating counsel for a major oil and gas company. He has also managed professional ethics and compliance matters for an AmLaw Top 10 global law firm, practiced immigration with a nationally recognized Afro-Caribbean cultural organization, worked overseas on intellectual property matters in native Japanese firms in both Osaka and Tokyo, and spearheaded community development in low-income neighborhoods in the PA and NJ Tri-State area. Given these experiences, Mr. Abara has great familiarity serving clients from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Mr. Abara holds a Masters of International Laws and a Graduate Certificate in East Asian Studies from Duke Law and Graduate Programs. He holds a minor concentration in Hispanic Studies from Northwestern University and is proficient in Spanish.
Ms. McLaughlin is an Associate Attorney at the Abara Law Firm. She focuses her practice in the representation of employees in various employment discrimination matters, including claims under state and federal anti-discrimination statutes. Ms. McLaughlin has represented individuals in employment matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commissions, and in federal suits.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. McLaughlin worked as a City Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service and her experience as such formed her understanding of the unique challenges faced by postal workers and federal employees alike. Having been in many clients’ shoes once, Ms. McLaughlin is able to offer a blend of legal experience and appreciation for the work federal employees do every day.
Ms. McLaughlin gained extensive experience in employment discrimination, Title VII, Americans With Disabilities Act and Equal Pay Act issues while serving as a Judicial Law Clerk for Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Administrative Judge Allyson Jozwik during law school. While working closely with Judge Jozwik, Ms. McLaughlin assisted with matters related to all aspects of the Federal Sector EEOC Hearings process.
